Past Events - December with Altadis and Dewars
WHAT A NIGHT. The excitement reigned all through the evening as evidenced by the large amount of photos captured for this night. From a grand meal to extra cigars, beautiful Dewars reps and stunning singers, topped off by a visit from non other than professional boxer and founder of the Fighters' Initiative for Support and Training (an organization which helps retired boxers find jobs), Gerry Cooney. So much excitement for just one evening. The Metro rings the holidays in style.
John Conroy of Altadis was on hand. John’s company has been doing some terrific things of late, including “Operation Hope.” During the months of October and November, Altadis U.S.A. and its retailers will be sponsoring “A Special Evening of Cigars, Camaraderie and Caring,” hosted by retail tobacconists nationwide. The event, entitled “Operation Hope,” will benefit the Montecristo Relief Organization. The Montecristo Relief Organization was founded in 1999 by Altadis U.S.A. – a company with a reputation for treating its employees as family and giving back to its communities - after two devastating hurricanes swept through the Caribbean causing unimaginable terror and destruction. Consumers attending the event make a $75 donation to the charity. In return they receive special limited edition gift boxes of Montecristo cigars and Signature Accessories valued at over $125. Perhaps most importantly, attendees will share the good feeling of knowing they’re contributing to a vital cause.
Also joining us was Kevin Patruznick of Bacardi USA, doing another Dewar’s event. Kevin helped us kick off this holiday season with a private Scotch whisky education session and VIP tasting. We learned the finer points of tasting, “nosing” and pairing different blended Scotch whiskies, the benefits of “double-aging”, and discover how the nuances of different single malts combine to create a perfectly balanced final blend. This exceptional Scotch whisky experience was topped off by a guided tasting of Dewar’s Signature, the ultimate expression of blended Scotch whisky and the gem of the Dewar’s portfolio.
The evening was also led by Dewar’s brand attaché, the lovely Jessica Suarez, who brings more than 7 years of Scotch whisky knowledge and experience to the Dewar’s portfolio.
As has been our tradition, The Metro also hosted dinner for 10 of our great Marines.
